Digital payslips for three million employees

Companies are increasingly using DATEV Arbeitnehmer online (online collaboration for employees).

There is a growing trend towards fully digital payslips for employees. In August, three million employees received their payslips electronically via the DATEV Arbeitnehmer online portal. This figure is an impressive example of the progress made by German companies in going digital.

More and more companies are taking the opportunity to send their employees their payslips electronically. It took just over a year (June 2021 to August 2022) for the two million users to reach the three million mark. However, it took 20months to go from the first to the second million. The growth curve continues to point upwards. The last quarter of the year saw an average of 95,000 new users per month. And there is still room for further growth: DATEV software generates payslips for around 14 million employees. Around one fifth of these currently receive digital payslips.

Secure digital payroll archives that can be accessed at any time

Moving to a fully digital payroll system is good for employees and good for business. With online access, payroll information reaches its destination quickly, with no postal delivery times. All employees can access their payslips, tax and social security statements. This gives them a digital archive of payroll documents that they can access at any time. The employer saves the hassle and expense of enveloping and postage.

It also avoids media disruption and optimises the payroll process. The portal can be used by companies that run their own payroll and by those that use a tax office to do it for them. Most companies using DATEV Arbeitnehmer online entrust this task to a tax consultant.

DATEV Arbeitnehmer online has been available since 2013 and is constantly being developed. In the current version, the new, clear and intuitive DATEV Arbeitnehmer online cockpit supports you in carrying out all administrative tasks to digitally provide your employees with digital payslips. All employee data and their current enrolment status can be accessed quickly. There is a new function for employees to save or delete several employers in one user profile. All sensitive payroll data is securely stored in DATEV's data centre. Users can now use a new app-based authentication process that is compatible with current authenticator app solutions for secure access.
