New Data Protection Legislation

As of the end of May 2018, Europe has a new data protection regulation.

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 4 May 2016, replaces the former data protection directive from 1995.

Enterprises and authorities have only a few months left to meet the upcoming changes. This also applies to DATEV as well as its members and customers. The time left until the application of the GDPR should to be used to check processes and documents and adjust them, if necessary. Breaches of the regulation’s specifications will cause tighter sanctions.
